This is a place where runners can share conversation and catch up on news.
The webmaster is a freelance web designer from Galesburg, IL. I have been running since 1985. I have never been spectacularly fast but bet I have had more fun than anyone else. I would spend all of my time working on this site if I could.
For many years I have been web master for Galesburg Road Runners Club but have been a board member since 1987. My wife Julie is club secretary a job she has had for many years. We (see the picture below) both have volunteered for many jobs throughout the years.
I made Prairie State Runner because I have always wanted to have a community of runners from everywhere. I love going to races and talking to everyone, I miss this when we are at home during the week. I think it would be great to have conversations about PR’s and races or whatever. Please start your own blog or forum and join in. Also please add the races that your club puts on. I add as many as I can but it is a big job and I probably miss some. You are encouraged to add any club events. If you have any questions please leave a comment below. Thank You

Five Minutes till Race Time
There is a new book out. It can be found at Amazon, Borders, and Barnes and Noble web site. It is not a training book but, rather a motivational autobiography that deals with Cross country running. The ISBN is 1-60563-730-0 It is especially good for HS and College athletes.
Upcoming 5K race - Help!
I am on a committee that is planning a 5K run in Wyanet, IL during the Wyanet Summer Festival. The race is scheduled for Saturday, July 12, 2008 at 9:00am. Those of us on the committee are novices and we are aware that we have a great deal to accomplish in a short amount of time but we are determined to make this happen. The race is in memory of our friend Nancy Jo Olds-Bohm from Walnut, IL who passed away in May of 2007 from breast cancer.
My dilemma at the moment is organizing the race day logistics: equipment, starters, finish line materials and timing.... We are looking for information on where to rent/locate equipment or better yet, a runner's group that will come down and help us implement the race on that day.
Any direction or advice that you can give me in this area would be greatly appreciated. My email address is below.
Thank you

I wrote an article at http://www.prairiestaterunner.com/Race-Organization/index.php sometime ago that might help.
You may be able to get liability insurance for your event here:
http://www.usatf.org/events/sanctions/
Galesburg Road Runners Club www.grrc.net will rent equipment for a very small fee and I believe the Illinois Valley Striders www.ivs.org will also rent expert personnel.
Also please be sure to put your race information on our calendar here (free) and upload your entry form
